Si comme moi vous avez eu certains désagréments sous max et que vous aviez récement installé le SP4 de win2k, voici un communiqué intéressant de discreet:

Topic: Windows 2000 SP4
Discreet Technical Support reports that 3ds max 5.1 has been certified to run on Microsoft Windows 2000 SP2 or Windows XP Pro SP1 only.
Microsoft has recently released Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000. It is recommended that 3ds max not be run on this latest version. Issues may arise if later service packs are installed. Please avoid updating to service packs later than SP2 for Microsoft Windows 2000 or SP1 for Microsoft Windows XP.
We will post more information on this problem as it becomes available.

Discreet technical support is currently investigating a reported conflict on systems running the Stand Alone Licensing (C-Dilla) and Symantec's Norton Antivirus™ 2003 or Corporate Edition version 8.0. The symptoms of this problem are varied and include, but are not limited to sudden exits of the program, loss of license, crash when opening a file and freeze-ups when dealing with materials. If you have recently upgraded or installed Norton Antivirus 2003 or Corporate Edition version 8, and are now experiencing problems running 3ds max, we recommend removing Norton Antivirus to see if the problem is alleviated.
Notice:
We have confirmed that upgrading to Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.1 should alleviate the conflicts with 3ds max. Customers running the Corporate Edition should contact Symantec to obtain the update. At this time, we are still investigating the apparent conflict between Norton AntiVirus 2003 and 3ds max.
If you confirm that you have this problem, please let us know by submitting the details via our Bug Reporting Form. Please be sure to include the exact Program and Scan engine version number as shown on the main Norton Antivirus Program Panel.
